The Sisters in Stamping blog is putting up some quick gift wrapping ideas for this weeks edition of Fabulous Friday. Here is my gift bag for this week--

I'm always on the hunt for new ways to wrap gifts for little or no money, one of the reasons why I like stamping so much. My husband says I'm waaaaay to practical. Here is a picture tutorial on how to make this cute little bag. I'm using some 2 sided 12x12 Stampin' Up! Designer Series Paper called Be of Good Cheer.

Step One: Place the box (this is a box of cookie mix** see below for directions on finding a box of your own) on the paper, folding the paper up so that at least 2/3 of the base of the box is covered.

Step Two: Fold in each side, not too tightly, I use liquid glue to secure. Use the pads of your fingers to score all four sides/corners of the paper to the box.

Step Three: "Wrap" the end of the box like you would a gift.

Step Four: Slide the box out of the Designer Series Paper. If you have a hard time sliding the box out that means that the Step Two was done too tight.

Step Five: Pinch the sides in and fold top down, and decorate with a ribbon and tag.

**To find a box to wrap of your own cut a string the length of the longest side of your paper. My paper is square, so my string was 12" long. Take that string to your pantry or to the grocery store and wrap it around a box to see if it will work...it needs to overlap at least a 1/4". You only need one box and it helps if it is still full of food, it will wrap better if it's heavy. There you go-- I have that box of cookie mix in my craft room and I can "wrap" myself up a bag any time I need it in whatever theme I need it in.

Christmas Tree Ornaments for Sisters

Merry Christmas! I love to make ornaments (and buy ornaments) so that is why my pick for the Sisters in Stamping blog is Homemade Christmas Ornaments this week. Here is mine--

I've had this idea for awhile and even bought the die (Elegant Bird Bigz, #125593, $21.95) especially to try to make this ornament idea I had in my head. Here is another picture from a different angle.

It was on the difficult side to take pictures of my bird, I'm hoping that you can see how it's put together-- 'cause I don't think I could explain it! I used the First Edition Designer Series Paper and glued it to both side of a piece of thin card board. So excited about how pretty she turned out.

Thank-you for coming by, make sure you stop by the Sisters site to see the other lovely ornaments.

Happy Stamping!

Quick and Easy Gift Ideas

Welcome! The Sisters in Stamping blog is featuring Quick and Easy Gift Ideas for our Fabulous Friday post. Here is my idea--

It is a money holder, cause there is nothin' faster than money, I think! I used the 2 3/8" Scallop Punch (#118874, $16.95) to make my tree (Certainly Celery, Wild Wasabi and Garden Green). The Real Red card stock is 6 3/4"x 9" scored at 3" and 6" and then I trimmed 1/4" off of one end so that it would not bind when I folded it. Here is a picture of the inside--

There is a small tab of Velcro to keep it closed. I made a couple to have on hand...in case of an Emergency!

Have a great week, and we will see you back next Friday....we will be showing off some handmade Ornaments for your Christmas Tree.

Christmas Card this Week

Sorry I've been so silent the last couple of weeks... my computer came down with a very bad virus, and it has been at the Dr.'s (read IT department). It's back, just for the week-end, since it's still sick!! Here is my card for the Sisters post this Fabulous Friday--

I used the safety pin from the Vintage Trinkets for the tag. This card was one of the cards Jen Sannes and I did for the Christmas Mega Stamp-a-Stack in October.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Glimmer Friday, Fabulous!

Hello! Over at the Sisters in Stamping blog this week we are featuring Glimmer Paper. Here is my project--

It's an ornament made with the scallop circle punches (2 3/8" and 1 3/4").  I used the Champagne Glimmer paper, Soft Suede card stock and Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding. You can find a tutorial here, Cristy made hers into a cute little pumpkin. This ornament would be super pretty using the Silver Glimmer paper too.

As always really appreciate you stopping by and checking it out!

Thanksgiving for Friday

November is here (already!) and over at the Sisters in Stamping blog we are showcasing some Thanksgiving decor and cards for you this week. Here is my project for this week--

This little paper pumpkin turned out way too cute! I used the BigShot to emboss some Pumpkin Pie card stock with the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder (pg.189, #117335) and then cut it into 3/4" strips. Punch a hole on each end of the strip, and thread them onto some Soft Suede ribbon.
I knotted the ribbon onto it's self to create the stem. Added an Old Olive leaf cut from the Bigz Die Autumn Accents (Holiday Mini Catalog pg.33, #127812). Lastly I cut small thin strips of the same card stock and curled them with my bone folder.

Thank-you for coming by today. Next week the Sisters will be making projects with Glimmer Paper. Hope you can stop on by!

Happy stamping! Karla c(:

Friday Fall Decor

Welcome to this Fabulous Friday post, coming to you courtesy of the Sisters in Stamping blog. Rachel is up this week and she has challenged us to make some Fall & Halloween Decor for you. Here is my project for this week--

I started my little paper broom with Stampin' Up!'s petal cone die. The broom base is in More Mustard. I made a broom handle with the new Cord'nations card stock and the Wood Grain embossing folder, attaching it to the cone by snipping a hole in the top and gluing the handle down into the cone.

Here is a closer look at the leaf decor--
To make the broom part I cut strips of More Mustard card stock and curled them with a bone folder. This project is time consuming and a little tedious--but it turned out so cute, I think it was worth it!

Thank-you for coming by today! See you next week.

Itty Bitty Punching on Friday

Hello! Thank-you for coming back. We all take turns picking our weekly Fabulous Friday post over at the Sisters in Stamping blog -- this week it's my turn, we are all doing projects with the Punch Packs from the Holiday Mini and the 2012-13 Idea Book & Catalog. Here is my project--

I used the four petal punch from the Itty Bitty Punch Pack. I used the Full Heart punch in white as my bottom layer just in case you could see between the little flowers, and it also serves as a guide for my little heart. I attached the flowers with mini glue dots and then places a small pearl in the center of each flower. This card looks pretty simple and easy, but let me tell you it's a little tedious with all of those little flowers and pearls! But it was worth it because I think it turned out very nice.

Happy Stamping!

Spooky Spider for Sisters in Stamping Post

Hello- Friday once again! It's Debbie's week for the Fabulous Friday theme, here is my 3D Halloween Candy item for the Sisters in Stamping post.

This is called a 2/4/6/8 box. It's a 1/2 sheet of 8 1/2x 11 cardstock (5 1/2x 8 1/2) scored at 2", 4", 6" and 8". Then again along the long side at 1 1/2". Fold it up use some glue to put it together, cut a few notches in the side--there you go! I used the Stampin' Up! Spider Web embossing folder on it before I glued it together and the cute little spider comes for the Stampin' Up! set called Tricky Treats. Last but not least, the spider has some of the new Googlie Eyes from the Holiday Mini Catalog. I'm traveling to Wisconsin this week-end and this will be my 3D trade for my Meeting on Saturday.

Thanks for looking!

Fabulous Piercing Templates

Good Day! One of the fantastic new products in the Idea Book & Catalog are the NEW Piercing Templates right now there are only 2 sets, but I'm sure Stampin' Up! will be adding more to this fantastic line of Stampin' tools. Here is my project for this week--

I used the Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack (#126187) and the new Stampin' Pierce Mat (#126199). The Pierce Mat is twice as large as the old, which works great for this Faux Stitching technique-- draw a line on both side of the strip using the white gel pen, use the straight line of holes in the Template and pierce a line over the top of the gel pen. Pretty easy and lots of fun!

Thank-you for stopping by and make sure you go over to the Sister in Stamping blog to see what the other girls are "piercing."

Fabulous Christmas Wheels

It's another Fabulous Friday over at the Sisters in Stamping blog where we are featuring wheels this week. Here is my card--

I used the Music Notes Wheel and the stamp set Beautiful Season. I tried a new technique with the coloring of my little bird I used a marker in a lighter color (Certainly Celery for the holly leaves) and came back with a darker colored Water Color Crayon (Garden Green) to give it some depth. This technique is similar to Marker over Pencil shown here on this post. I'm going to be creating a lot of these cards for Christmas so I needed to make it quick and easy!

Thanks for stopping by, and go check out the Sisters blog to see some other great Wheel cards!
Happy Stamping-- Karla c(:

PS. I used some of the InColor satin stitched ribbon on my card that's on special this month. Only one more week to get your free spool of ribbon. Contact me today!

Scrapbook Pages for Friday

It's my week over at the Sisters in Stamping blog. I picked Back to School Scrapbook pages for the theme. Here is my page--

I used the Summer Smooches Designer Series Paper, I thought it was appropriate--kiss that Summer good-bye! The strips of paper are cut in 1" strips and I used the Pennant punch to make the pencil tips. Clever, eh? We will be making this 8x8 page at the next Mother Daughter Class on Wednesday. I thought it would make a great page to put class photo's on, you know the little ones that you trade with your friends. E-mail me if you live in the area and you'd like to attend.

Go over to the Sisters blog and check out what the other girls are doing-- some very cool My Digital Studio stuff.

Happy Stamping!

Sparkly Spritzers for Fabulous Friday

Welcome to a sparkly Fabulous Friday! The Sisters are showcasing the spritzers in the Idea Book & Catalog this week for Fabulous Friday. They are one of the new products in the catalog and a whole lot of fun to play with. Here is my card--

Here is a close up of the sparkly spray!

I mixed my own spritz for this card, here is the recipe:
10 drops of Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint
fill remaining spritzer bottle with rubbing alcohol and shake.
Don't do what I did....put the rubbing alcohol in first and then the Shimmer Paint, when I put the spritzer back together it over flowed onto my desk. What a mess!!

Thank-you for stopping by!
Happy Stamping,

2012 Holiday Mini Catalog Favorite!

It's my week over at the Sisters in Stamping blog and we are picking out our favorites from the newly released 2012 Holiday Mini Catalog. There are so many really nice sets it was difficult picking just one...but, I'm sure you'll be seeing more from me regarding this new catalog! I finally settled on a set called Snowflake Soiree. Here is my card--

I know snowflakes in August?? But just looking at them makes me feel cooler....and it has been SO stinking HOT here anything you can do to make you feel cooler is a good thing! I was very happy to see this set in the Mini Catalog, you see, I was really bummed when they retired Serene Snowflakes because I used it all the time! I tried a new technique for the sky looking background, there is a video tutorial on this blog that shows how. I had to take it and make it my own though, I did the heat embossing first and the snowflakes acted as a resist on the watercolor paper.

Thanks for coming by!

Fabulous Masculine Cards

The Sisters in Stamping are showcasing Masculine cards this week. Here is my card--

I used one of my BRAND NEW stamp set that I received FREE from Stampin' Up! It's called By the Seashore, and it is so nice. I was very happy to see a set with sea shells in the new 2012-13 Idea Book & Catalog. The technique I used is called Collage, it was the very first technique I learned when I started stamping years ago. The colors I used are Marina Mist, River Rock and Soft Suede, it looks very "beachy" and it's a perfect card for this weeks Masculine theme that Debbie picked out.

Swing by the Sisters in Stamping blog and look at the other Masculine cards for this week!

Happy Stamping--

Arroof Bark Bark! *

Hey! Welcome to this Fabulous Friday post. We are playing with Embossing Folders over at the Sisters in Stamping blog today. Here is my card--

I used a new set called Animal Talk (love it!) to make a card using the Embedded Embossing Technique. I punched some 1" circles out in Gumball Green, More Mustard and Island Indigo, I adhered them to a piece of Whisper White and then ran it through the BigShot using the Square Lattice Embossing Folder. Really like the way the circles melt into the background, it gives this card a playful feel to it. Make sure you go check out what the other Sisters are doing too!
I'm participating in the Freshly Made Sketch FMS46 for this week also.

Happy Stamping!

I inked up this flower with markers, stamped it and then used a aqua painter to blend it all. That is why it looks all watercolory (that's a word, right?) I participated in the Freshly Made Sketch again this week  FMS45

Christmas cards in July??

This is our last week of the 2012-13 Idea Book & Catalog over at the Sisters in Stamping. I used one of the new Christmas stamp sets called Chock-Full of Cheer. Here is my card--

I used Cherry Cobbler, Very Vanilla and Gumball Green, pulling the colors from the Designer Series Paper that I picked, Be of Good Cheer. The candy cane was stamped off and then Merry Christmas layered over the top with Cherry Cobbler. I paper pieced the mitten, stamping it 2 times and then cutting pieces of it to make it 2 toned. There is Dazzling Diamonds glitter on the candy cane and the stars on the mitten. I'm participating in the Freshly Made Sketches (FMS44) again this week.

Stop on by at the Sisters in Stamping blog to see the other cards posted for this week.

Stay cool my Friend. Happy Stamping!

Hello and welcome! We are continuing our Idea Book & Catalog, we are in the Nature section of the catalog this week at the Sisters in Stamping blog. Here is my card for this week--

The stamp set is called Blooming with Kindness and I really like the fonts that SU! used when they designed it. I used the Heart Framelits and some new Designer Series Paper called Be of Good Cheer (you would never know it's actually Christmas paper, but I love this polka dot pattern). I'll be entering this card onto the Freshly Made Sketch blog for this week.

One of the other Sisters in Stamping used the same set (you'll have to go look!) Thank-you for stopping by... we will be in the Growing Up Section next week.

Week Two: IB&Catalog tour

This is Week Two of the Sisters in Stamping 2012-13 Idea Book & Catalog. We are in the Elements Section of the catalog, which is the largest stamp set section. Here is my project for this week--

It is a mini notebook that I covered with cardstock. It was one of my projects at the last Mother Daughter Madness Class last Wednesday night. Apparently, little girls LOVE notebooks (I did not know this)-- and this project was a big hit at the class! I used the Everything Eleanor set (again) to make a Toile' looking cover and finished it off with ribbons tied on the spiral.

Next week the tour will be in the Nature Section of the new catalog. Until then, make sure you go to the Sisters in Stamping blog to see what the others have posted.

I used 5 punches...can you spot them all??? Leave a comment with the names of all of the punches I used and you can win a free punch (if I get more than one correct response I will conduct a drawing). This cute little stamp set, Happy You is one of the new Hostess sets and is just my style. I used one of the new InColors Gumball Green. Island Indigo (InColor 2011-13) is the base of the card and the color of the galosh, I also used Pumpkin Pie and So Saffron. It is so bright and cheery!

My Favorite Friday

Welcome! The new Stampin' Up! 2012-13 Idea Book & Catalog is live and the Sisters in Stamping are celebrating with a Fabulous Friday post. Here is my card for this week--

I used a new set I received FREE at Leadership in January called Everything Eleanor. It's a little bit eclectic and reminds me of the retired set Baroque Motifs. I copied the layout from a dear friend and Downline of mine Jen Sannes, here is a link to her card--which is beautiful, that's why I CASED it! I'm loving the new catalog, if you'd like a copy for your own e-mail me today.
Thank-you for taking a gander at my blog today.

Retiring for Fabulous Friday

Welcome to this week's Fabulous Friday post! The Sisters in Stamping are using their favorite retiring stamp sets this week, one last good-bye. Here is my card for this week--

It's pretty simple! I really like the pink and the gray together, so classy. The stamp set is called Baroque Motifs and it has been around for awhile now...so I guess it's ready to go, but it's always sad to see a Classic like this one leave the catalog.

I also used one of the retiring stamp sets on the inside (Full of Life) along with one of the elements from the Baroque Motifs set-- I stamped it off first tho so I could used the same ink color. It dressed this pretty Wedding card up nicely I think.

Next week the Sisters are having a little preview of the new 2012-13 Idea Book & Catalog so make sure you swing on back next Friday.

Thank-you as always for stopping by today!

A Power Tie for Dad

Hello- I've been sitting the last couple of week out from the Sisters in Stamping, but I'm back this week with a super fun Father's Day card for your viewing pleasure--

The card base is 11x 4 1/4 (the card stock is cut the long way) and then scored at 5", 5 1/2" and 6". Cut in one inch on both sides of the 5" and 6" score mark (this makes the collar of your shirt). I used the mini silver brads on the collar and a pearl for the tie tack, some Poppy Parade  Designer Series Paper to make Dad a tie and a pocket scarf. The pocket was punched with the small tag punch (which is retiring in a couple of weeks) and attached with dimensionals. One of my downline (Dawn?) traded this fun folded card a couple of years ago... I have wanted to try my hand at it for quite some time now.

Thank-you for stopping by today, I will be back next week with another fun post!

Happy Stamping!

I used Elegant Eggplant and Certainly Celery combo (again!! I know but they just go so nice together).

Still reeling from the retired list. e-mail me if you are placing an order and I'll update you on the availability of the Accessory list.

Fabulous Scrapbooking Pages

Hello! Today on the Sisters in Stamping blog we are focusing on scrapbook pages. Here is my 6x6 page for this week--

I used one of the sets (that I love dearly-boo hoo) that will be retiring the end of May called Inspired by Nature. I used Always Artichoke, More Mustard and Chocolate Chip Markers to color the flowers.
I recently started teaching a Mother Daughter Class. Last month when we made a scrapbook page one of the 8 year olds asked, "what am I gonna do with this?" Legitimate question I thought, and I said something like, "you could put magnets on the back of it and hang it on the refrigerator."

Later I had a AH HA design moment, what if at the next class I had them put magnets on the back of a page protector and they put their monthly 6x6 scrapbook page on the frig in it? So there you have it-- every month they come to the class they have a new page for the frig, and the beginning of a Album of their own. Here is the back of the page protector, we trimmed the binder side off and placed sticky magnets on each corner.

Thank-you for stopping by today. Hopefully you'll be able to come by next Friday, it's my week and I've picked retiring stamp sets as the theme.

Happy Stamping!

Fabulous Mother's Day

Our focus this week at the Sisters in Stamping blog was Mother's Day cards. Here is my card for this week--

Used a stamp set called Packed for Mom (pg.39, Occasions Mini Catalog). I ruffled some vanilla seam tape along the bottom of the Concord Crush piece and added the punched flowers with the pearls to make it a little feminine. Although I used white embossing powder on the image, it looked like Very Vanilla which ended up being nice because I think it softened the card measurably.
Thank-you for stopping by this week! Make sure you come back next week the Sisters are doing some scrapbooking...

Happy Stamping! Karla c(:

PS. Just a reminder, the Occasions Mini Catalog expires on April 30, only a couple more weeks to make a purchase.

Late Fabulous Friday?!

Considering I completely forgot that yesterday was Friday, so my post is a day late this week! I think it's the Easter break that has my brain in a tizzy--well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it!! Here is my card for this week--

I took some inspiration from fellow stamper Pam Clyde. I used sponge daubers to make my pretty polka dot back ground and then a aqua painter and the same colors to color in the cute little chick. It is so happy and colorful in real life!

Thanks for stopping by and make sure you check out the Sisters in Stamping blog for more cute Springtime projects!
